Embodiment Construction

[0036] Referring to the accompanying drawings in more detail, Figure 26 A solenoid valve 10 is shown carried by a carburetor 12 to control the flow of a fluid (eg, a gas such as air or a liquid such as fuel) within one or more passages in the carburetor. The solenoid valve 10 may be received within a cover 14 connected to the body 16 of the carburetor 12, or carried by or associated with the carburetor. Although shown for use with a diaphragm carburetor, solenoid valve 10 may be used with any type of carburetor or other device.

[0037] see Figure 1-3 The solenoid valve 10 includes a bobbin 20 with a body 22 including an inner passage 24 and spaced apart radially outwardly extending flanges 26 , 28 . A terminal cavity 30 may be provided extending generally axially from an upper one of the flanges 26 , and a fluid flow path or channel 32 may be provided at the opposing flange 28 . The fluid channel 32 may extend into and be at least partially defined by a cylindrical boss ...

Abstract

In at least some implementations, a solenoid valve includes a housing, a bobbin, and an armature. A bobbin is at least partially received within the housing and has a body around which the coil is provided. A fluid flow path including an inlet and an outlet and a valve seat is defined by at least one of the housing or bobbin, and the armature is movable relative to the valve seat to control flow through the fluid flow path.

Description

[0001] References to Co-Pending Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of US Provisional Application No. 61 / 833,228, filed June 10, 2013, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present disclosure generally relates to solenoid valves for fluid flow control. Background technique [0004] Solenoid valves are used in a wide variety of devices to control fluid flow. Such valves utilize an armature driven by a magnetic field selectively generated by electrical current selectively supplied to a coil. Valves may include many parts, and assembly of the parts and ensuring their proper location can be difficult, especially when the parts are relatively small. Some solenoids are used with engine fuel system components, such as on or in carburetors for engine systems that do not include batteries. In at least these implementations, it is desirable to reduce the current required to drive the solenoid, since the electri...
