The cast iron heating unit comprises a pair of cast iron shells arranged in a half-and-half mode, and the two cast iron shells are jointly internally form a U-shaped cavity for allowing a heating element to be put after being combined. A plurality of radiating fins are distributed on the outer ends of the cast iron shells. The cast iron heating unit is fixed to the heater body through a fixing mechanism. The novel electric heater has the advantages that according to the novel electric heater, a covering heating element shell is designed to be the cast iron pieces; by means of the characteristic that radiating of the cast iron pieces is slow, one the one hand, the speed of outward heat transmitting through the cast iron heating unit can be effectively decreased, and the situation that surrounding persons are scalded due to the temperature is raised fast is avoided; on the other hand, after the electricity is turned off, the cast iron pieces can have certain heat preservation effect.
