The method includes the steps that when the heart rate or triaxial acceleration exceeds a normal threshold, the monitoring system whistles or lights on immediately; if the alarm of a wearing terminal has not been cancelled by a wearer within five seconds, the monitoring system gives off alarm to a household monitoring terminal; if a community monitoring terminal does not respond within ten seconds, the wearing terminal gives off alarm to a cell phone A; if the cell phone A does not respond within ten seconds, the wearing terminal gives off alarm to a cell phone B; if the cell phone B does not respond within ten seconds, the wearing terminal gives off alarm to a cell phone C; and the cell phone C conducts two operations identical with that of the cell phone A and receives the position information of the wearing terminal. The invention further discloses a monitoring system employing the multifunctional senior citizen monitoring method based on graded alarming.
