The method is characterized by comprising the steps as follows: a third current transformer (T3) and a fourth current transformer (T4) are added to the positions, from two groups of leads of the earth electrode line at an earth electrode tip to a frame respectively; and a third current (IDEE1) flowing through the third current transformer (T3) and a fourth current (IDEE2) flowing through the fourth current transformer (T4) are fed into an electrode protection device in a convertor station through earth electrode line cables respectively, and are logically compared with a first current (IDEL1) flowing through a first current transformer (T1) and a second current (IDEL2) flowing through a second current transformer (T1) at the outlet part of the earth electrode line in the convertor station.
