Abstract

A method for automatically detecting an OTN network fault node. The method comprises: a first OTN network element sends, through a preset extension field, a loopback operation request to a next site of the first OTN network element, namely, a second OTN network element, and the second OTN network element performs a corresponding loopback operation according to the received loopback operation request, and obtains an execution result of the loopback operation; the first OTN network element receives, through the preset extension field, the execution result returned by the second OTN network element; and the first OTN network element gives a network fault prompt according to the execution result. The method can greatly improve the efficiency of locating various network interruptions caused by transmission node faults during network establishment and maintenance, thereby reducing costs of network establishment and maintenance of customers.
