Abstract

The invention provides a fault processing method and device. The method comprises the following steps that interconnection nodes judge whether a multipoint fault exists on a primary ring when a public link on the primary ring where interconnection ports on the interconnection nodes are located has a fault, wherein the interconnection ports are ports on a public link of the primary loop and subrings, where the interconnection nodes are located; if the primary ring has the multipoint fault, the interconnection nodes determine the number of hops between the fault interconnection node and the interconnection node according to a signal fail SF message received from non-interconnection ports, wherein the non-interconnection ports are ports except for the interconnection ports on the primary loop; and if the number of hops is smaller than the reference number of hops between the interconnection nodes and master nodes, the interconnection nodes send an MS (Manual Switch) message on the ports of the subrings of the interconnection nodes and block the ports of the subrings on the interconnection nodes, so that the nodes of the subrings receiving the MS message open a blocked ring protection link RPL.
