According to the fingerprint identification method and apparatus, the to-be-identified fingerprint image is input in the convolutional neural network to obtain the fingerprint ridgeline image of the to-be-identified fingerprint image, the parameters of the convolutional neural network are determined by performing the training by adopting the fingerprint images marked with the fingerprint ridgelines, the fingerprint ridgeline image also can be obtained under the conditions that the to-be-identified fingerprint image is fuzzy and the like, and the fingerprint comparison is performed based on the fingerprint ridgeline image, so that the accuracy and stability of identification are relatively high.
