[0127] Shaped abrasive grains of CSAP1 were prepared by preparing boehmite sol-gel using the following recipe: by high shear mixing containing water (2400 parts by weight) and 70% aqueous nitric acid (72 parts by weight of HNO 3 ) solution for 11 minutes to disperse DISPERAL alumina monohydrate powder (1600 parts by weight, available from Sasol North America, Houston, Texas (SasolNorth America, Houston, Texas)). The resulting sol-gel was aged for at least 1 hour before coating. The sol-gel was forced into a production tool with an equilateral triangular mold cavity (28 mils (0.71 mm) deep, 110 mils (2.78 mm) on each side). A ceramic shaped abrasive particle is disclosed that is bounded by a base surface having a perimeter, a plurality of continuous sidewalls adjoining the perimeter, and a multi-faceted surface including a plurality of continuous facets. Each of the plurality of continuous side walls adjoins the perimeter, and the plurality of continuous side walls collectively adjoins the entire perimeter. Adjacent pairs of the plurality of continuous side walls abut each other along respective corner edges. The faceted surface is spaced apart from the base surface by the plurality of continuous sidewalls. At least one V-shaped groove extends across the faceted surface from one of the corner edges to one of the plurality of continuous sidewalls that does not contact the corner edge. Less than 10% of the faceted surface area is parallel to the base surface. Also disclosed are shaped abrasive particles and coated abrasive articles comprising the shaped abrasive particles.
