The invention relates to a video switching method and system based on multi-screen interactions; the method comprises the following steps: controlling a server end to search a target terminal located in the same LAN with a source terminal according to a multi-screen interaction protocol, and sending a video switch request to the source terminal; allowing the source terminal to connect with the target terminal according to the information carried by the video switch request; allowing the source terminal to send cached streaming media data and video control information to the target terminal; allowing the target terminal to play the received streaming media data, and to continuously send data requests to a streaming media server according to the video control information. The method and system can fully utilize the network width so as to reduce user waiting time in a video playing process, thus improving video switch playing smoothness, and improving user experiences.
