Embodiment Construction

[0019] The following is a description of example embodiments of the invention. The teachings of all patents, published applications, and references cited herein are incorporated by reference in their entirety.

[0020] Active matrix LED displays include an array of pixels, which may include switching transistors and capacitors. Pixels can be arranged in a grid or matrix. To address a particular pixel, the correct row is turned on (also called turned on) and charge is then transferred along the selected column. When this happens, the other rows intersected by the selected column should normally be turned off so that only the capacitors for the appropriate pixels are charged. The capacitor can hold the charge until it is refreshed during the next cycle.

Abstract

The invention discloses an active matrix LED pixel driving circuit and a layout method. Embodiments provide an active matrix LED pixel driving circuit and pixel layout for increased uniform illumination of LED display panels. A plurality of sub driving transistors can be located in neighbor pixels of the pixel associated with the prime driver transistor's LED. The sub driving transistors can compensate for the process variations affecting the threshold voltage variation of the prime driver transistor resulting in uniform illumination of LED's on the display panel.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 008,452, filed June 05, 2014. The entire teachings of the aforementioned applications are incorporated herein by reference. Background technique [0003] A typical active matrix light emitting diode (LED) display uses a matrix of pixels comprising capacitors charged by a drive voltage. The pixels of an active matrix LED display use the stored voltage until the scanning period of the next frame. These stored voltages allow the pixel circuitry to drive current to the LEDs during the period of one frame. [0004] refer to figure 1 , a typical pixel in the prior art includes a first transistor 11 and a second transistor 12 , a capacitor 13 and an LED 14 . The gate of the first transistor 11 receives a selection signal through a select line (SL) 16 , and the source of the first transistor 11 receives a voltage data signal through a VDATA line 17 . When the first tra...
