Abstract

A one-way clutch includes a clutch body and a body bore. The clutch plate stack includes a first clutch plate, a second clutch plate, and a third clutch plate secured to the clutch body. The second clutch plate rotates axially on the longitudinal axis. The first clutch plate includes a first strut cavity and the second clutch plate includes a second strut cavity. A forward strut is rotatably connected to the second clutch plate and biased toward the first clutch plate. When positioned in the first strut cavity, the positive strut defines a clutch engaged position that prevents rotation of the second clutch plate in the first rotational direction and permits rotation in the second rotational direction. A counter-strut slidably disposed in the post hole extends through the third clutch plate, the counter-strut is partially positioned in the second post cavity and is displaced in the post hole during rotation of the second clutch plate .
