Abstract

The invention provides a link connectivity detection method and device, wherein a target media access control (MAC) address in a bidirectional forwarding detection (BFD) detection packet is configured to be an MAC address of a third-party device, so that layer 2 forwarding of the BFD detection packet in a same broadcast domain from a source device to the third-party device can be implemented; and a target IP address in the BFD detection packet is configured to be an IP address of a target device, so that layer 3 forwarding of the BFD detection packet from the third-party device to the target device can be also implemented. Therefore, according to the link connectivity detection method and device, by controlling an actual forwarding link of the BFD detection packet, a link, which passes the link connectivity detection, can be ensured to be an actual transmission link of data flow under a scene, so that reliable transmission of the data flow under the scene can be ensured.
