The method comprises the steps as follows: the middle temperature of the first outdoor heat exchanger and the middle temperature of the second outdoor heat exchanger are acquired; when the multi-split system runs in a heating mode, whether the defrosting starting conditions are met is judged according to the middle temperature of the first outdoor heat exchanger and the middle temperature of the second outdoor heat exchanger; if the defrosting starting conditions are met, the multi-split system is controlled to be switched to run in a defrosting mode for defrosting; when the multi-split system runs in the defrosting mode, whether the defrosting ending conditions are met is judged according to the middle temperature of the first outdoor heat exchanger and the middle temperature of the second outdoor heat exchanger; and if the defrosting ending conditions are met, the multi-split system is controlled to be switched to run in the heating mode.
