Embodiment Construction

[0041] A preferred field of application for the embodiment variant is the inkjet printer 10 . figure 1 The construction of such a machine 10 is shown. During operation of the printing press 10 , as described above, it may occur that individual printing nozzles in the printing head 4 in the printing unit 2 fail. The consequence of this is white lines 13 or, in the case of multicolor printing, distorted color values. figure 2 Such a white line 13 in the printed image 12 is shown.

[0042] The printing progress is monitored by the control computer 20 . Here, the sheet 11 is transported from the feeder 1 along the transport direction T via the transfer cylinder 5 to the printing cylinder 7 and the printing head 4 , wherein the printing head 4 consists of one or more rows of printing nozzles. Said rollers 5 , 7 are accelerated by one or more drives 6 . The colors are then applied to the sheet 11 via printing nozzles in the printing head 4 for producing a printed image 12 . Th...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for compensating defective nozzles in an inkjet printing machine. The method can compensate the defective nozzles by increasing the size of ink droplet of adjacent nozzles and is characterized in that: actual positions of printing points of all the nozzles are acquired, and to compensate the failures, the necessary size of the ink droplet of each of the adjacent nozzles is calculated out according to the actual positions of the printing points of the nozzles and the actual position of a printing point of each of adjacent nozzles.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the technical field of digital printing. Background technique [0002] Typically, an inkjet printer includes one or more print heads, and each print head includes a plurality of print nozzles. Inkjet printers use nozzles to print by firing ink. These printers include a nozzle plate with a dedicated arrangement of individual nozzles. In the event of a failure of an individual printing nozzle, regions may arise which cannot be painted with individual color separations by the nozzles provided for this purpose. Colorless areas, which may appear as white lines, thus appear. If multi-color printing is involved, the corresponding color will be lacking in this area and the color value will be distorted. It is also worth noting that the injection curves of the individual nozzles do not follow an ideal pattern, but may deviate to a greater or lesser extent, and the size of the injection point must also be taken into account. In this...
