The method comprises the steps of dividing the whole river reach into a plurality of areas; calculating nonconsumptive water demand quantity and consumptive water demand quantity in the areas; taking the maximum value of the calculated nonconsumptive water demand quantity corresponding to a plurality of hydrometric stations as the nonconsumptive water demand quantity of the whole river reach; adding up the calculated consumptive water demand quantity corresponding to the plurality of hydrometric stations, and taking a result as the consumptive water demand quantity of the whole river reach; and adding up the nonconsumptive water demand quantity of the whole river reach and the consumptive water demand quantity of the whole river reach and taking the result as the ecological water demand quantity of the whole river reach.
