The quality evaluation method comprises the steps of: carrying out downsampling on each degree of latitude of each frame of a panoramic video to be evaluated and a panoramic video serving as a reference in the form of a longitude and latitude map separately, so as to obtain two corresponding irregular-shaped videos; calculating a mean square error between the two irregular-shaped videos, frame-by-frame quality and overall quality of the two irregular-shaped videos frame by frame, so as to realize quality evaluation of the longitude and latitude map panoramic videos. The quality evaluation method has the advantages of considering the geometric deformation between a spherical surface and the longitude and latitude map, and considering all information on the longitude and latitude map as much as possible.
