The invention provides new application of glucosamine, and specifically provides application of the glucosamine as a feedstuff raw material in improving the production performance of livestock. The glucosamine feedstuff raw material used in the feedstuff of sows can improve the number born alive and the rate born alive of the sows without changing the average weight of newborn individuals, and especially, the glucosamine obviously improves the number born alive and promotes the reproductive efficiency of the sows; and the glucosamine can effectively improve the number born alive at weaning, the weight of litter at weaning and the average weight of individuals at weaning, and especially the glucosamine obviously improves the number born alive at weaning and the average weight of individuals at weaning, thereby increasing the economic benefit in feeding sows.
