The control method comprises the steps that a cruising request is received; a cruising mode is entered; and when fault information of a pre-arranged part of a vehicle is received, the cruising mode is quitted. By applying the control method for the electric vehicle cruising system, the cruising mode is entered after the cruising request is received, and the vehicle automatically cruises under the cruising mode. In the cruising process, when the fault information of the pre-arranged part of the vehicle is received, the cruising mode is quitted. In this way, the pre-arranged part is monitored in real time in the cruising process, and when the pre-arranged part has a fault, the cruising mode is quitted. A driver can take corresponding measures such as vehicle stopping for overhauling and slow-down according to the actual vehicle condition.
