Embodiments of the invention provide a beam tracking method, terminal equipment and network side equipment. The method comprises the steps that the terminal equipment determines N first beam referencequality values, wherein the N first beam reference quality values are corresponding to N beams respectively; the terminal equipment selects M beams from the N beams according to the N first beam reference quality values and a cell to which each of the N beams belongs, wherein the M beams belong to a resident cell of the terminal equipment; and the terminal equipment indicates the selected M beamsto the network side equipment which provides services for the terminal equipment. According to the technical scheme, the terminal equipment can track detected beams and reports the tracked beams of the resident cell to the network side equipment, so that the network side equipment can select an appropriate beam from the reported beams so as to be used for communicating with the terminal equipment.
