Embodiment Construction

[0032] Referring to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals correspond to like or similar parts throughout the several views, figure 1Illustrated is a system generally indicated at 100 for generating a "heartbeat" of a process, the heartbeat being defined by the event durations of a plurality of timed events of a machine-executed process, where the event durations are ordered in sequence of process events. A heartbeat can be represented by a sequence of data or graphically by a pattern. In an example, the pattern may be a bar pattern. In another example, a pattern may be a continuous line defined by an ordered event duration, where "ordered event duration" is the event duration of a timed event of a process arranged in sequence, e.g. The order in which the procedures are executed. Machine heartbeats can be used to measure, monitor and / or control a process by providing comparators to evaluate changes in event duration from one process cycle to another. A detailed under...

Abstract

A method and system for generating a heartbeat of a process including at least one machine configured to perform a process cycle consisting of timed events performed in a process sequence includes determining the duration of each timed event during performance of the process cycle, ordering the durations of the timed events in the process sequence, and generating a heartbeat defined by the ordereddurations of a process cycle. One or more process parameters can be sensed and displayed with the heartbeat in real time. The variance of a current heartbeat to a baseline heartbeat and / or a comparison of a process parameter to a parameter limit can be analyzed to monitor and / or control the process or machine. The heartbeat, the process parameter corresponding to the heartbeat can be displayed ona user interface which can include a message corresponding to the heartbeat and / or the process parameter.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Nonprovisional Patent Application 14 / 833799, filed Aug. 24, 2015, which is a continuation-in-part of U.S. Patent No. 9,116,740, issued Aug. 25, 2015, which is a 2014 Continuation of U.S. Patent No. 8,880,442, issued November 4, 2011, U.S. Patent No. 8,880,442 claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application 61 / 493,412, filed June 3, 2011, all of which are incorporated by reference in their entirety at this. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates generally to process control methods, and more particularly to a method and system for generating a heartbeat of a process. Background technique [0004] Most machines operate by performing a predetermined set of events (which may also be referred to as tasks) in an orderly sequence to provide a process result. These events are precisely sequenced and timed according to the design intent of the process the machine is...
