Vibrations at harmonic frequencies are reduced by injecting harmonic balancing signals into the armature of a linear motor / alternator coupled to a Stirling machine. The vibrations are sensed to provide a signal representing the mechanical vibrations. A harmonic balancing signal is generated for selected harmonics of the operating frequency by processing the sensed vibration signal with adaptive filter algorithms of adaptive filters for each harmonic. Reference inputs for each harmonic are applied to the adaptive filter algorithms at the frequency of the selected harmonic. The harmonic balancing signals for all of the harmonics are summed with a principal control signal. The harmonic balancing signals modify the principal electrical drive voltage and drive the motor / alternator with a drive voltage component in opposition to the vibration at each harmonic.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the apparatus includes a housing having a magnet, a multi-axis vibration sensor for sensing vibration along multiple machine axes, and conditioning circuitry disposed within the housing. The magnet enables the apparatus to be placed in sensory contact with the machine. The vibration sensor senses machine vibration along multiple machine axes when the apparatus is in sensory contact with the machine, and the conditioning circuitry optimizes the frequency response of the vibration sensor by reducing the gain of the sensor output at resonance. The vibration sensor may be mounted directly to existing machine structure, such as the machine's outer casing. Two parallel feet facilitate stable mounting of the sensor curved surface. A keyed mounting pad may be employed to facilitate proper orientation of the sensor.

According to the programming method, feed rate constraints are divided into neighbor-independent (NI) constraints and neighbor-dependent (ND) constraints. Firstly, the maximum feed rate of the technological requirement is set to be an initial feed rate line, and then a feed rate curve of the neighbor-independent (NI) constraints is obtained through one time of curve smooth deformation. Then a feed rate curve of the neighbor-dependent (ND) constraints is obtained through multiple times of curve smooth deformation via combination of a proportional regulation algorithm. According to the feed rate programming method, a fairing item is added on the basis of curve deformation of pure geometric approximation error constraints so that the obtained feed rate curve has better fairness, fluctuation of the feed rate curve is eliminated to the largest extent and the machining process is ensured to be stable.
