Abstract

Provided is a waste heat recovery system including a drive unit, a compressor, and a waste heat recovery cycle. The drive unit has a drive shaft, the compressor is operably coupled to the drive shaft, wherein operation of the drive unit drives the compressor, the waste heat recovery cycle is coupled to the drive unit and the compressor, wherein a waste heat of the drive unit powers the waste heatrecovery cycle, such that the waste heat recovery cycle transmits a mechanical power to the compressor, is provided. Furthermore, an associated method is also provided.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application is a formal application claiming priority and benefit to U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 431,491, filed December 8, 2016, and entitled "Waste Heat Recovery System." technical field [0003] The following relates to systems for waste heat recovery, and more particularly to embodiments of systems and methods for using waste heat from a drive unit to assist in powering a compressor and / or other auxiliary systems. Background technique [0004] Gas turbines are a common choice for compressor drives in areas where electricity is not readily available. Compressors driven by gas turbines, including types such as piston, barrel, or integrally geared centrifugal compressors, are often used to facilitate the transport of gas in pipelines. In this installation, the gas turbine uses some of the gas from the pipeline as fuel for the gas turbine, which powers the compressor to repressurize the pipeline gas to ov...
