Abstract

The invention relates to a laser range finder and a laser ranging method. The laser range finder comprises a supporting assembly and a distance measuring main body; the distance measuring main body isprovided with a laser head capable of emitting laser beams; one end of the laser head is rotatably mounted at the supporting assembly; a predetermined angle is formed between the supporting assemblyand a connection line of a measurement starting point and a measurement end point; the distance measuring main body rotates with a connection point of the distance measuring main body and the supporting assembly adopted as a rotation axis; and the laser range finder carries out blocking object-free distance measurement when the distance measuring main body rotates relative to the supporting assembly such that the laser head is aligned with the measurement end point. With the above laser range finder adopted, a distance L between the measurement starting point and the measurement end point of ameasured object can be obtained according to a sine and cosine theorem, so that the length of a measured object with no blocking objects can be measured conveniently when the distance of a measured object with an blocking object is measured, and therefore, the use range of the laser range finder is wide, and convenience can be brought to people's lives.
