Abstract

Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for combining aspects of multiple indexed images acquired at different focus distances to generate a final image that keeps a subject in focus at various depths. High frequency frames associated with each of the plurality of images may be generated, each high frequency frame representing the high frequency content of the associated image. High frequency content in multiple regions in each of the plurality of high frequency frames may be analyzed to determine which regions include significant high frequency content. A final image may be generated comprising, for each of the plurality of regions, image data from an image having a similar index to the high frequency frame having the greatest effective high frequency content in that region.
