Abstract

The method comprises the steps of obtaining practical transmission efficiency of streaming mediadata, wherein the practical transmission efficiency is determined according to a ratio between second streaming media data quantity received by a second device and first streaming media data quantitysent by a first device; inputting the practical transmission efficiency and preset target transmission efficiency into a proportion-integration-differentiation (PID) controller, thereby obtaining anadjustment coefficient; and adjusting a transmission bit rate of the streaming media data by a coder according to the adjustment coefficient. According to the method and the device, the problem that the streaming media data transmission is delayed due to the fact that a network bandwidth predicted by the first device is asynchronous with an adjustment bit rate is solved. The first device does notneed to predict the network bandwidth, so the adjustment coefficient which is not suddenly changed within short time can be obtained through utilization of the PID controller. The transmission efficiency of the streaming media data is improved.
