The manual swimming thruster comprises a propeller (4), a floating plate (1), a pair of reciprocating swinging type handles (2) and a gearbox assembly (3), wherein the floating plate (1) is used for supplying a buoyancy force, and the reciprocating swinging type handles (2) can be held by two hands to be driven; the gearbox assembly (3) is fixedly mounted with the floating plate (1) and comprises a shell, a variable gear, an input shaft and an output shaft; the propeller (4) is fixedly mounted on the output shaft of the gearbox assembly, andthe handles (2) are connected with a gearbox shell through hinges and can execute reciprocating swing so as to drive the input shaft of a gearbox to rotate. The manual swimming thruster is operated byholding the handles (2) by two hands, the binding connection is not required in the use process, and the thruster is capable of supplying the buoyancy force, so that a swimming beginner can be assisted to float on the water surface, and the thruster is suitable for being used by the swimming beginner; and the propeller can reach an ideal rotation speed and can continuously rotate towards one direction so as to supply a continuous propulsive force.
