Abstract

The embodiment of the invention provides a method and apparatus for distributing media contents, an electronic device, and a server. The method comprises: a flow of a current to-be-displayed medium isdetermined; a to-be-displayed medium flow request is sent to a server; a medium material that correspond to a medium flow request sent by an upstream data source in a target group and is returned bythe server is received, wherein the target group is determined by the server in at least one group of upstream data sources and each group of upstream data sources includes a plurality of upstream data sources with set forwarding priorities; and according to the medium material, displaying is carried out in a currently displayed interface. Therefore, the probability that the APP server cannot obtain the medium material is greatly reduced and thus the client is able to display the medium material normally, so that the user experience is improved substantially.
