Embodiment Construction

[0213] In currently available rendering systems, such as aerial imaging with unmanned aerial vehicle ("UAV") systems and other remote-controlled camera systems, wireless transmission is typically employed to transmit video. However, such systems are susceptible to transmission bottlenecks due to insufficient transmission bandwidth. While some systems attempt to alleviate the bottleneck problem by implementing bit rate reduction via the HDMI or BT 656 ports prior to transmitting video, such systems require an additional central processing unit ("CPU"), resulting in greater complexity and higher implementation costs.

[0214] Since currently available telepresence solutions require expensive hardware and can result in communication bottlenecks, systems and methods for rendering video clips with the assistance of the available resources of an imaging device can advantageously alleviate communication bottlenecks and provide for providing The basis for the telepresence functionali...

Abstract

A system for supporting a remote device and methods for making and using same are disclosed. The system comprises an imaging processor associated with an imaging device that can obtain a video clip and transcode video content of the video clip to present with the remote device. The imaging processor can retrieve the video clip from a storage medium, extract the video content and transcode the video content to facilitate transmitting the video content to the remote device. The imaging processor also retrieves context information of the video clip either by extracting from the video clip or by inputting from another source. The context information can either be transcoded or not transcoded for merging with the transcoded video content to generate composite video content. The system further comprises a remote device to present the composite video content and to adjust transcoding parameters of the imaging processor. The system can advantageously simplify a structure of the supporting system.

Background technique [0004] Currently available remote video rendering methods require complex hardware configurations to support real-time decoding, which results in high cost of implementing them with cameras. In addition, the decoded YUV bit rate requires high bandwidth, so it is not convenient for transmission and storage. [0005] In view of the foregoing, there is a need for a system and method for ...
