Problems solved by technology

However, traditional fleet management systems have a strict set of commands that can only serve one pre-defined application and one pre-defined client, thus limiting the usage of the robot formation to the pre-defined application and pre-defined client

Embodiment Construction

[0016] This paper describes a robot dispatch request system for controlling a fleet of one or more robots. Each robot formation may include a group of homogeneous robots (eg, robots of the same type) or a group of heterogeneous robots (eg, robots of different types).

[0017] the term

[0018] Reference in this specification to "an embodiment" or "one embodiment" means that the particular feature, function, structure or characteristic described is included in at least one embodiment of the invention. The appearances of such phrases are not necessarily all referring to the same embodiment nor are mutually exclusive alternatives.

[0019] Unless the context clearly requires otherwise, the words "comprise" and "comprising" should be construed in an inclusive sense rather than an exclusive or exhaustive sense (i.e., in the sense of "including but not limited to" Explanation). Abstract

Robot dispatch request systems can be used to control one or more robotic fleets. A robot dispatch request system (100) can be provide a user interface (102) through which a user can send a service request to utilize at least one robot-usage-as-a-service (RaaS). Each RaaS can be implemented by one or more robotic fleets (110), and each robotic fleet (110) can include one or more robots. Robotic fleets (110) can be comprised of a set of homogeneous robots or a set of heterogeneous robots. A service request may not specify a particular robotic fleet (110) to complete the requested service. In such instances, the robot dispatch request system (100) can determine an optimal robotic fleet (110) (or an optimal combination of multiple robotic fleets (110)) to complete the requested service, and then request that a fleet management system (106) select one or more robots in the determined robotic fleet to perform the requested service.

Description

[0001] Related Application Cross Reference [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 357,759, filed July 1, 2016, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] At least one embodiment of the present disclosure relates generally to robot control systems, and in particular to scheduling robot formations. Background technique [0004] A robot is a mechanical or other artificial agent capable of performing a series of complex actions. More specifically, robots are typically electromechanical devices controlled by computer programs or electronic circuits. Robots can be autonomous or semi-autonomous. Robots can also come in several shapes and sizes. For example, a robot can be in the form of a vehicle, a humanoid, an appendage, a machine of any shape, or any combination thereof. [0005] In some cases, multiple robots can be managed as a single formation. For example, a team of construction r...
