Abstract

A method for Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) preamble retransmission for New Radio (NR) is proposed. In addition to the preamble transmission counter for the RACH procedure, a power increase counter is also introduced. The UE determines the preamble TX power based on the power increase counter. The UE updates the power increase counter based on each PRACH transmission condition including the selected DL beam and the selected UL beam for preamble transmission. If the transmission condition remains the same as the transmission condition of the previous PRACH preamble, the power increase counter is incremented by one. On the other hand, if the transmission condition is different from the transmission condition of the previous PRACH preamble transmission, the power increase counter remains unchanged.
