Abstract

A signal booster includes an input for receiving an audio signal having a desired component and an unwanted component. The signal enhancer also includes a perceptual analyzer for separating the audio signal into a plurality of spectral components. The perceptual analyzer is further configured to, for each spectral component, designate the spectral component as belonging to the desired component or the unwanted component based on a power estimate associated with the spectral component. If a spectral component is designated as belonging to the unwanted component, the perceptual analyzer will adjust its power by applying an adaptive gain to the spectral component; Expect perceivability to choose.
