[0040]A drug delivery device as described herein may be configured to inject a medicament into a patient. For example, delivery can be subcutaneous, intramuscular or intravenous. Such devices may be operated by the patient or a caregiver, such as a nurse or physician, and may include various types of safety syringes, pen injectors or auto-injectors. Devices may include cartridge-based systems that require puncture of a sealed ampoule prior to use. The volume of medicament delivered with these various devices can range from about 0.5 ml to about 2 ml. Yet another device may include a large volume device ("LVD") or patch pump configured to adhere to the patient's skin for a period of time (e.g., about 5, 15, 30, 60, or 120 minutes) To deliver "large" volumes of medicament (typically about 2ml to about 10ml).
