Abstract

The display panel comprises a backlight module emitting collimated light, a hydrophobic layer arranged on the backlight module, a pixel defining layer arranged on the hydrophobic layer, and a convergent point shielding layer being arranged above the through holes and having areas smaller than the areas of the through holes. Through holes arranged in an array are arranged in the pixel defining layer; micro-droplets are arranged in the through holes; driving electrodes are arranged around the through holes and are configured to curvatures of surfaces, away from the hydrophobic layer, of the micro-droplets by controlling voltages of the driving electrodes. Compared with the existing reflective electrowetting display technology, the disclosed display device and display panel have the display characteristic in a dark light environment; and compared with the existing LCD display technology, the disclosed display device and display panel have characteristics of high backlight transmittance and high brightness.
