The method comprises the following steps: a call between a first terminal and a second terminal is established; a first terminal serving as a sending end acquires the uplink wireless link loss of the air interface channel; and the first terminal dynamically adjusts the voice ratebased on the uplink wireless link loss according to a preset adjustment strategy. The sending end evaluates whether the quality of the uplink wireless channel is matched with the current voice rate (vocoder mode) according to the wireless link loss condition, and performs dynamic adjustment of the voice rate, only the sending end is involved, the adjustment is fast, and the voice rate can be quickly matched with the change condition of the uplink wireless channel.
