The invention discloses an application memory optimization method, which is suitable for being executed in a mobile terminal, and comprises the following steps: intercepting class files related to a picture creation interface and a thread creation interface by utilizing a Java bytecode framework ASM in a packaging process of an application from a Java file to a Dex file; adding a self-defined memory monitoring method into the class file, wherein the memory monitoring method is used for monitoring virtual memory use conditions of the picture creation interface, the thread creation interface andthe application; when the virtual memory occupation ratio of the application reaches an expected numerical value, globally notifying that the application memory is abnormal in the application, and releasing the loaded picture of the current undisplayed page; and extracting the loading parameter of each loaded picture from the picture loading library, so as to load the loaded picture again according to the loading parameter when the user returns to the undisplayed page.
