Abstract

The invention provides a video image prediction method and device, and provides a mode for determining the maximum length of a candidate motion vector list of a sub-block fusion mode. The method comprises the following steps: analyzing a first identifier from a code stream; and when the first identifier indicates that a candidate mode adopted by a to-be-processed block for inter-frame prediction comprises an affine mode, analyzing a second identifier from the code stream, the second identifier being used for indicating the maximum length of a first candidate motion vector list, the first candidate motion vector list being a candidate motion vector list constructed when the to-be-processed block adopts a sub-block fusion prediction mode; and determining the maximum length of the first candidate motion vector list according to the second identifier.
