Embodiment Construction

[0039] The present inventions will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which some, but not all embodiments of the inventions are shown. Indeed, these inventions may be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will satisfy applicable legal requirements. Throughout, like numerals refer to like elements.

[0040] As an initial overview of a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a flexible packaging laminate is configured with built-in opening and reclosing functionality and tamper evidence features. The laminate is constructed into a multi-layer structure by adhesively laminating the first structure to the second structure, wherein each of the first structure and the second structure comprises one or more layers of flexible material. A pressure sensitive adhesive is applied to one of these ...

Abstract

A flexible packaging laminate has built-in opening / reclose and tamper-evidence features by forming the laminate from an outer structure joined in face-to-face relation to an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to enable an opening to be formed through the laminate by lifting a flap or the like out of the plane of the laminate. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate. The outer score line includes at least one tabpositioned within a heat seal region of the laminate.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application is a continuation-in-part of U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 13 / 668,947, filed November 5, 2012, which is a continuation-in-part of U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 12 / 043,442, filed March 6, 2008, both of which were adopted This reference is incorporated herein in its entirety. Background technique [0003] The present disclosure relates to product packaging formed in whole or in part from a flexible film, wherein the film has score lines defining flaps that can be lifted to create an opening through the film to obtain a product, and wherein the flaps can be repositioned Attach to the remainder of the membrane to close the opening. [0004] Various food and non-food products are packaged using flexible packaging materials primarily formed of laminates of one or more of polymer films, metallized polymer films, paper, metal foils, and the like. In many cases, a package contains a product that may ...
