The equipment control method can be applied to the electronic equipment and comprises the steps of detecting whether a video is currently played or not; if it is detected that the video is currently played, detecting whether the electronic equipment is in a horizontal screen playing mode or not; if it is detected that the electronic equipment is in the horizontal screen playing mode, locking screen setting of the electronic equipment; and shielding a preset function of the electronic equipment, wherein the preset function at least comprises one of returning to a previous-level interface, returning to the main desktop, checking a recent task and automatically rotating the screen. According to the application, the screen setting can be locked during video playing on the system level of the electronic equipment, and the corresponding screen setting is effectively prevented from beingmistakenly adjusted.
