Embodiment Construction

[0098] In various embodiments, the systems and methods described herein enable improved configuration and operation of passenger doors of aircraft. For example, in some embodiments, the systems and methods disclosed herein can improve the firmness and stability of airstairs. In some embodiments, the systems and methods described herein can alternatively or additionally prevent an aircraft door handle from being prematurely moved to its door closed position until the door is properly positioned relative to the fuselage of the aircraft, thereby Unintentional collisions of latches and / or other elements can be avoided.

[0099] In some embodiments, the systems disclosed herein can be used with "semi-plug" doors that incorporate airstairs and require Lifting allows a door pressure stop on the door to move past a corresponding fuselage pressure stop on the fuselage, allowing opening of the door. As explained further below, the door pressure stop on the door rests against the fusel...

Abstract

A system for operating an aircraft door is disclosed. Systems and methods for operating an aircraft door including an airstair are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system comprises a hinge configuredto pivotally couple a lower portion of the door to a fuselage of an aircraft, a lift mechanism and an interlock. The lift mechanism causes a movement of the door relative to the hinge between a lowered position and a lifted position. The interlock is configurable between: a locked configuration where the movement of the door relative to the hinge is prevented; and an unlocked configuration wherethe movement of the door relative to the hinge is permitted.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to aircraft, and more particularly to aircraft doors. Background technique [0002] Some airplanes have built-in sets of stairs called "airstairs" that allow passengers to board and disembark from the airplane. Airstairs can be built into the inside of flip doors that are pivotally coupled to the fuselage of the aircraft. Airstairs eliminate the need for passengers to use ladders or aerobridges to board and disembark an aircraft. While existing airstairs are designed to safely support the weight of one or more passengers boarding or disembarking an aircraft, the footing provided by some airstairs appears to lack firmness and stability. [0003] Aircraft doors include latch elements configured to withstand loads during flight. On some aircraft, the latch element is actuatable via a handle, which facilitates opening and closing of the aircraft doors by the crew. Such aircraft door handles typically have a door...
