The method comprises: firstly, generating the variable list according to the predefined variable data structure of each lower computer device, and the variables of each lower computer device in the variable list being continuously stored according to the preset rule, so that the communication gateway occupies a small storage space and has high storage efficiency when caching the variable data of the lower computer devices; then, generating a variable list index according to the variable data structure and the variable list; when a first data request frame from data request equipment is received, the communication gateway can send a first data request frame to the lower computer device accordingto a unique identifier of the requested lower computer device carried by the first data request frame, a requested variable and a variable list index, and quickly determine the storage position of therequested variable in the variable list, and then reading data corresponding to the requested variable from the variable list according to the determined storage position and returning the data to the data request device.
