Abstract

The invention discloses a fractional divider for a modulating phase locked loop. The fractional divider may receive a basic frequency value that comprises an integer component and a fractional component and can modulate the frequency value by receiving a data signal. A shift value is used for selectively shifting and zooming the modulated frequency value so as to generate a shifted fractional component value. The shifted fractional component value can be added into a basic integer component, and de-shifting and de-zooming are performed to generate a corrected frequency value. Then, the frequencies of clock output signals are sequentially divided by the corrected frequency value to generate feedback signals.
