Embodiment Construction

[0057] Hereinafter, the terms "tyre" and "pneumatic tire" are used equally to denote any type of pneumatic or non-pneumatic tire.

[0058] figure 1 A prior art radio frequency transponder 1 is shown, which is constructed such that the electronic part 20 is located inside the radiating antenna 10 . The radiating antenna 10 consists of a steel wire 12 which has been plastically deformed so as to form a helical spring with an axis of rotation 11 . A helical spring is primarily defined by the coil diameter and the helical pitch of the coated wire. Here, these two geometric parameters of the helical spring are constant. Thus, for a given wire diameter, the inner diameter 13 and outer diameter 15 of the helical spring can be precisely determined. Here, the length L0 of the spring corresponds to half the wavelength of the radio frequency transmission signal of the transponder 1 in the elastomer blend block. Thus, it is possible to define a median plane 19 of the helical spring wh...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a passive radio-frequency transponder comprising a radiating antenna made up of a single-strand helical spring having an axis of rotation, a median plane, a pitch anda diameter for a given wire diameter, and an electronic portion situated inside the radiating antenna. The electronic portion comprises an electronic chip electrically connected to a primary antenna coupled electromagnetically with the radiating antenna. The primary antenna has an axis parallel to the axis of rotation of the radiating antenna and a median plane superposed on the median plane of the radiating antenna. The primary antenna is enclosed in a cylinder, the diameter of which is smaller than one third of the inner diameter of the radiating antenna. The radio-frequency transponder is characterised in that, for a first area of the radiating antenna in which the radiating antenna is not situated in line with the electronic portion, the ratio between the pitch and the diameter for atleast one turn of the helical spring is greater than 0.8.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to electronic radio identification devices or radio frequency transponders which can be fastened to objects to be identified, such as tires, which are subjected in particular to high thermomechanical stresses during use. Background technique [0002] In the field of RFID (RFID is an acronym for Radio Frequency Identification) devices, passive radio frequency transponders are commonly used to identify, track and manage objects. These devices enable more reliable and faster automated management. [0003] These passive RFID transponders usually consist of at least one electronic chip and an antenna formed by a magnetic loop or a radiating antenna, which is fixed on the object to be identified. [0004] For a given signal transmitted to or by an RF reader, the communication performance of an RF transponder is expressed as the maximum communication distance between the RF transponder and the RF reader. [0005] In the case of highly ...
