[0023] Detailed description of the preferred embodiment

[0024] Referring now to the accompanying drawings, figure 1 An exploded perspective view of the connector assembly, generally indicated at 10, is illustrated in . The connector assembly 10 includes a housing 12 and a terminal position assurance member 14 . The connector assembly 10 is adapted to retain the electrical terminal 16 and the second electrical terminal 16A in the first terminal cavity 18 and the second terminal cavity 18A, respectively. Terminal cavities 18 and 18A extend through housing 12 from an insertion end 20 of housing 12 to a mating end 22 . The illustrated electrical terminals 16 are box-type female terminals, but the connector assembly 10 may be adapted to hold any desired type of electrical terminals. Additionally, the connector assembly 10 may hold any desired number of electrical terminals.

Abstract

The application relates to an electric terminal connector assembly with a terminal lock. The connector assembly includes a connector housing that defines a terminal cavity. A terminal lock is adaptedto retain an electric terminal in the terminal cavity in an installed position. The terminal lock includes a lock arm that extends from the connector housing and a lock tab that extends from the lockarm into the terminal cavity. The terminal lock includes a raised ridge on an outer end of the lock tab.

Description

[0001] Background of the invention [0002] The present invention relates to connector assemblies for electrical terminals. More particularly, the present invention relates to a connector assembly for electrical terminals including a terminal lock that provides increased resistance to pulling the terminal out of the connector housing. [0003] Electrical terminals are used in a variety of applications where it is desired to establish electrical connections between various components of a circuit. For ease of use, the electrical terminals are usually mounted in the housing. The housing holds each electrical terminal in a desired position and orientation and allows a user to easily connect each electrical terminal to its corresponding counterpart. [0004] A terminal lock secures each electrical terminal in the housing and ensures that the electrical terminal cannot fall out of the cavity during normal use of the housing. A typical terminal lock includes resilient arms that eng...
