Abstract

Proposed in the present invention are a refinement apparatus and a refinement method, the refinement apparatus comprising: a container unit having an open upper portion and a space for refining melt formed therein; a nozzle unit which is formed so as to blow gas and is installed in the container unit; a camera unit, provided above the container unit, for photographing a molten metal surface of the melt; and a control unit for calculating the size of naked molten metal on the molten metal surface by using the molten metal surface image obtained from the camera unit, installation information of the camera unit, and performance information of the camera unit, in which a gas flow rate may be controlled so that the size of the naked molten metal that is formed in the molten metal surface during an LF refining process falls within a preset reference size.
