Abstract

The invention discloses a novel application of berberine. The invention relates to application of berberine or derivatives or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof in preparation of drugs for improving androgen. The berberine or the derivative or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is applied to preparation of drugs for treating diseases caused by insufficient androgen secretion. The influence of berberine on androgen is discussed through a clinical random control test in Chinese male for the first time. Firstly, very strong innovativeness is acieved, i.e., the first clinical random control test research for detecting the effect of berberine on male androgen level; the gold standard of the clinical random control test is adopted to clarify the effect of the berberine on the androgen, such that the berberine has the androgen increasing effect, and can be used for preparing the androgen increasing drug, or can be used for treating the diseases caused by the insufficient androgen secretion.
