Abstract

The invention provides a method, a system and a storage medium for relieving input / output conflict delay. A storage recording engine of a storage system logically organizes each storage device of the storage system into a separate device library, the storage devices balance services to write transactions and services to read transactions between different device libraries, thereby mitigating input / output conflict delays that may lead to a decline in quality of service. Further, the storage recording engine is configured to prioritize certain data in chunk metadata, thereby enabling users of the storage service to obtain consistent mitigation of conflict delays of read access to the entire critical data set. Furthermore, since inactivity of reading transactions in the repository results in storage space occupancy with minimal benefits, storage occupied by replicated copies of data can be recovered after the period of read inactivity.
