Abstract

The present invention provides a system and method for communicating over a single-wire transmission line. The signal generator includes a data source, a power source, and a modulator. The modulator is configured to modulate a power signal from the power source with a data signal from the data source to generate a modulated power signal (first mode). Data values of the data signal correspond to variations in a voltage level of the modulated power signal over time. The modulator is coupled to output the modulated data signal to a one-wire interface.A pull-up circuit is configured to apply a voltage signal to the power line in a mode (second mode) where no power is transmitted.
