The invention relates to an escapement mechanism for a timepiece, comprising: a first escapement wheel, a second escapement wheel, referred to as an impact pinion, and a drive pinion, wherein the impact pinion, the driving pinion and the first escape wheel are mounted on the same axis; an intermediate gear engaged with the drive pinion; a balance plate carrying a plate pin and a direct impact pallet shoe, the direct impact pallet shoe being arranged to cooperate with the first escape wheel; a pallet comprising a pallet head cooperating with the peg, an impact pallet tile arranged to cooperate with the impact pinion, and first and second support pallet tiles arranged to cooperate with the first escapement wheel; the first escape wheel, the drive pinion, and the impact pinion are mounted in this order.
