Self latching latch

A self latching latch mechanism is disclosed which includes a latch mounted to a first wing and a strike mounted to a second wing or a fixed member. The latch has a latch tongue which can move between a latching position in which the latch tongue can engage the strike to secure the first wing relative to the second wing or fixed member, and a free position which allows relative movement between the first wing and the second wing or fixed member. Latch tongue biasing means are provided to bias the latch tongue towards the latching position. Operating means are also provided to move the latch tongue from the latching position to the free position, and there is a hold back member which can move between a first position in which the latch tongue is prevented from moving to the latching position, and a second position in which the latch tongue can move to the latching position. The hold back member is biased to the first position. There is also a latch magnet associated with the hold back member, and means to prevent the latch tongue from moving from the latching position to the free position otherwise than upon operation of the latch tongue operating means. The strike also has a strike magnet. When the latch is close enough to the strike for the latch tongue to engage the strike the hold back member is caused to move from the first position to the second position by attractive or repulsive magnetic forces between the latch magnet and the strike magnet, thereby allowing the latch tongue to move from the free position to the latching position.

Timepiece having a mechanical movement associated with an electronic regulator

There is disclosed a wristwatch having a case containing a mechanical watch movement (10) driven by a spring barrel (14) and provided with a mechanical regulator with a balance and balance-spring, which is associated, via electromagnetic coupling, with an electronic regulator driven by a quartz resonator. The rim of the balance (13) is provided with a pair of permanent magnets (38, 39). The electronic regulator includes a fixed coil (12) arranged for cooperating with said magnets via electromagnetic coupling, a rectifier (58) provided with at least one capacitor, and a circuit (60) for enslaving the frequency of the mechanical regulator to the frequency of the oscillator by braking obtained by briefly short-circuiting the coil. In order to enable a common type of mechanical movement to be used, only the balance of which is altered, the electronic regulator is formed by a structural module (11) that is entirely separate from the mechanical watch movement (10). This module can be fixed to the movement plate, or, conversely, carried by the watchcase independently of said movement, in particular via a casing ring (26). Apart from the coil, all of the rest of the electronic module (11) is preferably located outside the mechanical movement.

Escapement governor, mechanical watch, pallet fork (incomplete) manufacturing method, and roller manufacturing method

Disclosed are an integrally molded type pallet fork (incomplete) with a safety pin and a roller table that are formed with high precision by a simple process, a thin escapement governor including the pallet fork (complete) and the roller table, and a method of manufacturing the pallet fork (complete) and the roller table. The pallet fork (complete) of the escapement governor includes a pair of entry horn and exit horn extending from the rotation axis of the pallet fork (complete) toward the rotation axis of a balance with hairspring and adapted to transmit the power of an escape wheel to an impulse pin; and a safety pin which is provided in a side surface of the pallet fork (complete) between the pair of entry horn and exit horn, which extends from the rotation axis of the pallet fork (complete) toward the rotation axis of the balance with hairspring, which is situated at a position nearer to the rotation axis of the pallet fork (complete) than the pair of entry horn and exit horn, which enters a passing hollow to thereby cause the pallet fork (complete) to make normal rotation or reverse rotation with respect to the rotation axis of the pallet fork (complete), and which abuts a portion of a roller other than the passing hollow to thereby prevent erroneous rotation of the pallet fork (complete); and the roller is formed in a single layer.

Tourbillion

A tourbillon for a watch having a setting device for setting the hands of the watch includes a circular balance wheel that can swivel about a swivel axis. In addition, an escapement is provided that consists of a pallet and an escape wheel, the balance wheel and the escapement arranged on a base plate. A balance wheel shaft of the balance is rotationally mounted with its one end on the base plate and with its other end on a cage that surrounds the balance wheel like a basket. The cage comprises, outside of the radially encircling periphery of the balance wheel, a number of interspaced pillars fastened to the base plate and forms, with the base plate, a rotating mount which can be rotationally driven about rotation axis that is coaxial to the swivel axis by a seconds drive of the watch. A stop device can be actuated by the setting device and swiveling movement of the balance wheel can be blocked by the stop device. The stop device has an approximately V-shaped double-arm spring, which can be moved out of a normal position while being radially displaced outside of the encircling movement path of the pillars and into a blocking position in which it can rest in a flexible manner against the radially encircling contour of the balance wheel via contact areas and on both end areas of both of its spring arms that are oriented in and counter to the encircling direction of the contour of the balance wheel.
