Acoustic control system for electronic musical instrument

An acoustic control system for an electronic musical instrument, which can obtain optimal acoustic characteristics irrespective of whether or not a low range speaker is attached to a body thereof. A piano body has high range and mid range speakers. A low range speaker is removable from the body. A stand-excluding switch designates a first speaker-use mode for using the high range and mid range speakers alone, and a stand-including switch designates a both speaker-use mode for using both the high range and mid range speakers and the low range speaker. A ROM stores stand-excluding and stand-including factors for setting acoustic characteristics in the two modes, respectively. A CPU reads one of the factors, which corresponds to the mode designated by the stand-excluding or stand-including switch. A tone generator circuit generates a musical tone signal to be reproduced in one of the modes, based on the read factor.

Slurry dewatering and conversion of biosolids to a renewable fuel

ActiveUS20060096163A1Readily removed mechanicallyLow oxygenBio-organic fraction processingBiofuelsEmission standardSlurry
In the processes for treating municipal sewage and storm water containing biosolids to discharge standards, biosolids, even after dewatering, contain typically about 80% water bound in the dead cells of the biosolids, which gives biosolids a negative heating value. It can be incinerated only at the expense of purchased fuel. Biosolids are heated to a temperature at which their cell structure is destroyed and, preferably, at which carbon dioxide is split off to lower the oxygen content of the biosolids. The resulting char is not hydrophilic, and it can be efficiently dewatered and / or dried and is a viable renewable fuel. This renewable fuel can be supplemented by also charging conventional biomass (yard and crop waste, etc.) in the same or in parallel facilities. Similarly, non-renewable hydrophilic fuels can be so processed in conjunction with the processing of biosolids to further augment the energy supply.

Protective sealing barrier for a syringe

A protective sealing barrier for a syringe is disclosed. The protective sealing barrier can be configured to safeguard the sterility of the syringe and any contents held therein, as a barrier against leakage of any contents held within the syringe, or both. The syringe includes a luer tip and a collar having terminal ends which are preferably substantially co-planar with one another. The barrier consists of a membrane which is disposed in substantially entire surface contact with the terminal ends of both the luer tip and the collar. The membrane can be selected from a material permitting the syringe to be irradiated or heat sterilized. Likewise, the membrane can be chosen from a material permitting the syringe to be sterilized by various gas sterilization procedures. The membrane provides good tamper evidence of the syringe, can be stocked in a uniform size adaptable to various sizes of syringes, reduces the storage space required for the syringes, and can serve as a platform for printing information regarding contents held within the syringe.

Fully automatic and energy-efficient deionizer

A fully automatic deionizer comprising five sub-systems for removing ionic contaminants from various liquids at low energy consumption is devised. Based on the charging-discharging principle of capacitors, the deionizer conducts deionization through applying a low DC voltage to its electrodes for adsorbing ions, while more than 30% of the process energy is recovered and stored by discharging the electrodes. At the mean time of discharge, surface of the electrodes is regenerated on site and reset for performing many more cycles of deionization-regeneration till the desirable purification is attained. In one moment, both deionization and regeneration proceed simultaneously on different groups of electrode modules, and in the next moment the electrode modules quickly switch the two processes. Such swift reciprocating actions are engaged in synchronized coordination of sub-systems of electrode modules, energy management, fluid flow, and automatic control.
